All Systems Go for 2012...
2012 is the 50th Anniversary of the launch of the MGB, and this year's Shropshire Festival of Transport will have a celebration of the MGB at its core, MG'S from all over the West Midlands, North Wales and Cheshire will be attending in Force. Last year's show attracted over 3000 visitors, and featured displays from 8 of the regions major vehicle dealers as well as over 300 classic and interesting vehicles, and these numbers are expected to be surpassed as our plans come together for another exciting family day out.
2012's show will build on the foundations of last year, our Entertainment for this year includes an aerobatic display by Bob Pooler and his Flying Machine and a Squirrel helicopter from the Defence Helicopter Flying School at RAF Shawbury will be dropping in. Following the success of the Porthywaen Band last year we have Cleobury Mortimer Concert Brass playing two sessions on the "Village Green" -an area dedicated to craft stalls and items to interest the whole family as well as car lovers.
This year the Main Arena will host the Institute of Advanced Motorist who will be testing your driving skills around a Course designed to check your level of safe driving knowledge. There will also be parades of MG Cars especially the MGB to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of this iconic Sports Car and later in the day we will have a Parade of vehicles from the Jubilee years and other vehicles of special interest expertly commented on by Nigel Thorley. Horse Power meets Horse Power when The Company of Horsemen enter the Main Arena twice during the day to show off their amazing trick and stunt riding.
This year we have increased the number of Trade Stands from car cleaning products to outdoor furniture, autojumble to specialist books, in fact come along and make your own discoveries, new stands applying daily! Our Food outlets are varied from Pizzas to Hog Roasts, All Day Breakfasts to specialty pastries/breads, Tea shop, Coffee Car and Beer Trailer.
The children are catered for with a Face Painter, Bouncy Castles and Children Fun Fair, so no excuse not to bring the whole family.
